Core: Character Progression

As characters interact with the Monomyth universe, they become stronger, more competent, and gain new abilities and powers.

Milestones

Character progression in Monomyth is achieved through the completion of milestone events which are significant accomplishments in a character's career. For a low level character, a milestone may be a simple as completing a quest or defeating a particularly hard group of enemies in combat. For higher level characters, progression may not occur until they complete a significant task such as defeating an extremely threatening boss or overthrowing an evil empire.

Character milestones are not specifically defined in Monomyth as they are, generally, left up to the Game Master in their design of the adventure. However, some modules may include quests or storylines that contain suggested milestones in order to guide progression at an appropriate pace with the characters' journey.

Progression Table

The table below is the standard progression of characters from levels 1 through 10. Specific game modules may add progression beyond level 10 or may introduce other elements of character progression. Additionally, some abilities can have internal progression tracks where characters gain more functionality from the abilities as their level increases.
