Core: Statuses
Characters can be subjected to a number of statuses both in and out of combat. These statuses affect what Characters are capable of doing on their turn as well as their ability to act and react to the world around them.
Incapacitated
An incapacitated character may be on the verge of death, knocked unconscious by an ability, or otherwise rendered totally unable to act. An incapacitated character automatically skips their turn in combat. If an ability requires them to roll in order to end the incapacitating effect, that roll happens at the beginning of their turn and the rest of their turn is automatically skipped (including regaining Focus/Health).
Rolling
Incapacitated characters:
Automatically roll the lowest result on all Saves
Automatically lose all Contests
Cannot make Checks
Abilities and Attacks targeting Incapacitated characters are automatically rolled with 2 Bonus Focus.
Restrained
A restrained character is one whose movement has been significantly restricted. Restrained characters cannot use the limb(s) that are restrained and cannot use any abilities that require the use of the restrained limb(s).
A character whose movement has been restrained has a movement speed of 0.
Rolling
Restrained characters:
Automatically roll the lowest result on all Saves that would require the use of the restrained limb(s).
Contests that require the use of the restrained limb(s) are rolled with 1 Penalty.
Checks that require the use of the restrained limb(s) are rolled with 2 Penalty.
Afraid
Characters can be made to be Afraid of another character or other object in the environment. Characters that are afraid are not allowed to move toward the source of their fear.
Rolling
Afraid characters:
Automatically roll with 1 Penalty on any Saves caused by the source of their fear.
Automatically lose all Contests against the source of their fear.
Blind/Deaf
Blind or Deaf characters are unable to see or hear the world around them respectively. When a character is blinded or deafened, they become totally unable to perceive the world around them using the sense that was impacted.
Blind characters are unable to directly target any other characters with abilities that rely on sight unless they have another way to accurately perceive the location of their target.
Deaf characters are unable to hear enemies approaching. Any character attacking a Deaf character does so as if they have Surprise as long as they are not in the deafened character's line of sight.
Prone
Prone characters have been knocked off their feet, rendering them immobile until they get up. Prone characters cannot act on their turn unless they use their entire movement pool to stand up.
Rolling
Prone characters
Roll all Saves with 1 Penalty.
Roll all Contests that would require physical movement with 1 Penalty.
